    Porsche Day

We decided to take the Flatnose and 996 for an outing to clear our minds and get some video footage.  “Pure emotion”, firing up the 996, reversing out the garage, slowly crawling down the street allowing mechanicals to warmup, imaging Im a race driver taking my spot on the grid. What a way to start everyday, it never gets old.  The rigid chassis, rather lifting a wheel than flexing the body (out the driveway), windows down, sunroof open, precision gear selection and effortless drone from the flat six. Sensory overload.  After much confusion about our rendezvous point, all from my side, we enjoyed a good giggle at my expense over a coffee while…

    2019 Jaguar Simola HillClimb

4th #JaguarSGC done and dusted. Still reeling from last years frantic experience, once again left everything to the last minute. Only managed to swap out cylinder head on Monday, rewired (more or less) the dashboard, fitted seats, rechromed lights & surrounds, before realizing the license had expired… Special word of gratitude and respect to my first wife, always by my side, navigating the challenges I drop in front of her, albeit understandably not always without complaint. Thanks for noticing and renewing license before leaving for knysna! #manofthematch Thanks Nik Pels for last minute stickers and master magician Wynando Adeleo Donaggi for grace under pressure and an excellent job as always, despite his own…

    MotoGP-Qatar 2019

I can confirm, 30 hours in Doha beats a 9 Hour layover at the airport, hands down. Especially when it includes an epic opening MotoGP! Thanks to the night race, we had time to explore our surrounds, and what a pleasant surprise Doha has been. Clean and peaceful, yet they get the job done. Makes one wonder what all the noise is about! As expected, the MotoGP did not disappoint. Never does. Hard to correlate the surprisingly small turnout with the massive following MotoGP enjoys, although made for a more intimate experience. Outstanding weekends racing set the bar high for the remainder of the trip. However, somehow I don’t see the 790 Adventure…

    Track Experience Monza

What a treat, couple laps around Monza, under professional instruction, Drivers Briefing and Sighting lap in a minibus! Spoiled for choice between a Porsche GT3, Ferrari 458 or 488 and Lamborghini Huracan or Gallardo, thanks to the strength of our currency my choices were limited to the Gallardo. Not that its anything to complain about, I would have been happy in my rental. Considering the weather Italy has experienced over the last month, I was relieved to wake up to mist and slight drizzle conditions. Set in the woodlands outside the city of Monza, the park littered with dog walkers and joggers, track seemingly invisible through the forest of trees, nostalgia is palpable,…
